Common Challenges Faced by Overseas Families

Family Adapt to Local Culture

Relocating to a new country involves more than just physical movement — it’s an emotional and cultural transition for the entire family. Helping families adapt means guiding them through local customs, traditions, and social norms, ensuring smoother integration. With the right support, families can enjoy a sense of belonging, reduce culture shock, and embrace their new environment with confidence and curiosity.

Build Social Network

Creating a supportive community is essential for thriving in a new country. Building social networks helps individuals and families combat isolation, share experiences, and gain valuable insights from others who’ve walked similar paths. Whether through professional associations, hobby groups, or cultural communities, developing strong personal connections enhances emotional well-being and fosters long-term success abroad.

Exploring Local Education Resources for Children

Parents relocating abroad want the best for their children — especially when it comes to education. Understanding the local school systems, extracurricular opportunities, language programs, and academic pathways ensures that children receive the support they need to flourish. Tailored guidance helps parents make informed decisions about public, private, or international schooling options aligned with their child’s needs.

Financial Planning and Retirement

Relocating overseas has long-term financial implications that require careful planning. From managing income and taxes to building savings and securing retirement benefits, every step must be strategically addressed. With expert financial guidance, individuals can make sound investment decisions, navigate foreign banking systems, and ensure a comfortable and secure future—both during their working years and into retirement.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why mentors are needed?

In your everyday work and life, you will encounter problems and issues which you would like to get someone's advice or have a safe place you can discuss. Our service provides you a mentor that you can trust to get advice from and a group of peers with similar background as they may encounter similar issues as yours and you can also learn from each other.

What's the difference among training, mentoring and therapy?

Training: The trainer will provide content. A live training session usually has more than 15 trainees. You have the opportunity to ask one or two questions. Trainer’s attention to your specific needs and questions are very limited. Once the training ends, your communication with the trainer ends. After the training you are on your own to transfer what you learned into action.

Mentoring: the content will be tailored according to the mentee's specific needs-real work/life difficulties or questions. Mentees learn in a small group, 5-8 people. Mentees also have one on one sessions with the mentor(s). The mentor holds continuous sessions with mentees for a period of time, two months or more, to support and guide mentees to transfer the knowledge into actions.

How mentors are chosen?

Mentors are experts with more than 20 years of working experience in specific areas as: Mechanical Engineering, Finance, Human Resources, Software Engineering, Structural Engineering, Manufacturing, Operation. We at MentorsUs personally meet our mentors to understand their professional background and teaching style so we can provide the best match to mentees.

How other mentees in the group are chosen?

Using the same method, we at MentorsUS talk to each mentee regarding his/her education level, current job to place similar background mentees in the same group. You can choose whether to be placed with mentees working in the same company or not.

Is there any trial session with the mentor?

Yes, there is. After we match you with your mentor, you can have the first session with your mentor at half price. Then you can decide which plan you would like to choose.
